Dapples are soft, commonly textured spots on centaurs lower back, hips and ribs.
They can rise up to their upper torsos ribs as well.

Marking rules

  • Dapple has no layering rules and can sit over or under anything.
  • Dapple can be darker or lighter than the base color. Markings color must be similar with basecolors saturation value. The color can be picked from the basecolor slider or natural color slider.
  • Dapple spots must all be same opacity. Some spots cannot be more opaque or seethrough than others
  • Dapple spots need to sit separately from each other, so they cannot cluster into one mass, and the spots cannot sit on top of each other.
  • Dapple cannot be smaller than presented in marking ranges.
There's no official max size, but the dapple spots shouldn't be larger than centaurs hand.
  • Dapple spots can sit randomly, or create chains or patterning.

Marking edge & Allowed edge effects

Dapple allows 1 edge type on all it's spots + voluntary fade effect

Dapple spots must be solid, so they can't have large holes inside them. However, textured edge can create slight opacity

Real life examples

These examples represents what the marking is based on. Please keep the marking rules in mind when designing, and don't rely too heavily on real life markings carrying the same name. These examples can work as an inspiration, not direct references.
